If you’re not doing what makes you happy you’re wasting your time…
Ever heard that one before?
Yeah me too… many times
But there’s a difference between hearing it and listening to it.
For a year and a half my time was filled with:
10 hour days
Monday – Friday
…often times Saturdays & Sundays
Dresses, heels, & meetings
Clients that only like the color yellow on Tuesdays and Fridays (I wish I was kidding)
…and a lot of alcohol to eliminate the anxiety
But I should be happy right?
…this is what I went to school for
…this is what I had always pictured myself doing
…this paid the bills
…I should be happy.
But I wasn’t
So I decided to listen.
I decided to stop wasting my time.
I took a risk and decided to chase my dreams instead…
SOOO
…for those of you that are thinking “where the hell has she been, why isn’t she writing, is she still alive…?” the answer is yes I’m still alive, and I’ve been MIA because I dove in head first to start building my life from the ground up.
SparkNotes version of the last 3 months:
I left my job at the advertising agency and landed myself at City Fitness in Philly. I completed my NASM Personal Training Certification and started as a trainer in January. I also made the decision to compete in my first NPC Figure competition in April and as of today I am 4.5 weeks into my prep (stay tuned for another post about this)!
Has this been an easy road?
No.. absolutely not.
Has there been a couple meltdowns?
Yes… of course
But through the bullshit I have never been more confident that this was the best decision I ever made.
My days are long
I’m tired
I hate cardio
and I really want an Oreo (or 10)
Life might not be picture perfect, no glitz and glam.. but my heart is happy. And at the end of the day, thats all that truly matters.
Through this journey I’ve learned that success is not defined by the size of my paycheck.
Success is the ability to wake up every morning truly happy, to love what I’m doing and being able to help others achieve their goals all at the same time.
