Balance 101

Life is a Balancing Act… Stay Calm & Keep Moving

Balancing 101:

Crash course designed for two different kinds of people
A) Those who try to please everyone
B) Those that push everyone away

So, let’s start from the beginning…

I’ve never been good at this phenomenon they call “balance. Even as a gymnast.. the balance beam was my absolute worst event. I used to be “sick” every beam day to avoid the sheer torture it was for me to stay on that little 4 inch platform…

But this morning, for whatever reason, I got the urge to rekindle my gymnastics days and do handstands in my living room.  Why?  I have no idea…

Anyways, I started thinking about this idea of balance.  What to do, what not to do. How I was so hyper focused on getting my legs to be in the perfect position for a picture that I was overcompensating and falling over and running into walls.  I bet you wish you were a fly on MY wall this morning, don’t ya?

“Morgan, no one cares about your handstand… what’s your point?”

My point is that to have a successful balancing act, you need to do 2 things..

1.  Eliminate the Negative

Let Go of the Things Dragging You Down

For my handstand… it was letting go of trying to overcomplicate something so simple

For my life… it was letting go of this idea that I can please everyone

“I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone”

I couldn’t have said it better myself…

Fact: It is impossible to please everyone.

Trust me, I’ve spent a long time trying to defy all odds, prove that that I could do the impossible.

Well guys, I can’t.

MISSION ABORT!

There are a lot of people that come in and out of your life.  Some good, some bad, some that may just be a bookmark until you’re ready to move on to the next chapter.  I believe everyone is put in your life for a reason.  But I also believe that not everyone is meant to stay in your life forever. People will come and go, but its your job to drop the ones that are holding you back to make room for the ones that will lift you up.

2.  Incorporate the Positive

Stop pushing people away that are there to lift you up

Now, don’t let me fool you. I am notorious for pushing people away during stressful situations. My family, my friends, my world kinda disappeared because I was so hyper focused on this little burden that was taking a toll on my life at that moment.

But what happens when you stop pushing everyone away and start accepting that you can’t do everything alone?

You will move mountains my friend…

I learned that isolating myself and pushing people away only took me down a dark hole that led to nowhere. After digging myself out I found that life is so much more enjoyable when you let people back in and realize that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.

Conclusion:

At this point you should have a general understanding of what we need to do to put the balance back in your life….

Yes, balance is about getting rid of the bad and incorporating the good… but YOU my friend are in the center of it all.  Be selfish every once in awhile, free yourself from the load you carry around on your back every single day and live the life you deserve.
